Veteran Kannada actor Sarigama Viji died at the age of 76 on Wednesday due to multiple organ failure near Yeshwanthpur, as per reports by Times Now. The news of the famous artist and comedian shook the Kannada Cinema industry as the actor has been an integral part of both the Film industry and in Theaters.

The actor’s health faced a sudden and severe deterioration on Sunday, 12 January and was taken into Intensive Care in Bengaluru where he was admitted for treatment. Due to age related issues and multiple organ failures, the actor took his last breath at 9.45 AM on Wednesday.
Sarigama Viji’s Journey in Kannada Cinema
Viji started working as a theater artist doing around 1300 dramas and plays which gave him an entry into the film industry with his debut film ‘Beluvalada Madilalli’ releasing in 1975. His successful Film career took him to fame with 269 Film Credits in his name as of 2018, most of which are popular collaborations with actor Tiger Prabhakar and filmmaker V. Somashekar.
His insight into stage acting was useful for the actor as Vijayakumar gained his famous moniker ‘Sarigama’ after the popular play ‘Samsaradalli Sarigama’ which was his own theatre group’s creation. He has also co-written plays and has 80 Film credits as an Assistant Director in films.
Apart from Theater and Film experience, Sarigama Viji also has an impressive run in TV as an actor in Television Soaps and as a judge in Zee Kannada’s Comedy Reality Competition ‘Comedy Khiladigalu Championship’.
Sarigama Viji’s last rites and rituals are planned to happen at his abode in Mahalakshmipuram, where celebrities and public will pay their final respects and later be taken to a Crematorium in Chamarajpet. The Kannada actor is survived by his wife and son.
