It is a known fact that actor Mohanlal is a maestro of acting, skillfully skinning the layers of each and every character he opts and brings out the magic. The prominent and remarkable actor is now making his directorial debut with a 3D Children’s fantasy movie, ‘Barroz’. The movie was announced in 2019 and has been going through Pre- Production works and reworking the story and screenplay, the global pandemic hit, resulting in a halt in production.
Mohanlal’s directorial debut, ‘Barroz’ is about a 400 year old ghost, Barroz that is guarding the mythological treasure belonging to the Da Game family. The ghost protecting the treasure from treasure hunters and pirates has to wait for a true heir of the Da Game bloodline.
‘Barroz’ is based on Jijo Punnoose’s novel and was primarily meant to be directed by the visionary director, who has already established himself with groundbreaking movies, including India’s first 3D movie, ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ and for making India’s first 70 mm wide high resolution movie, ‘Padayottam’. The famous director and producer refused but helped with the screenplay and story and even motivated Mohanlal to take the director seat.
The subsequent delays and halts for the production, in casting and changing the script and screenplay according to the passing months and for the sake of Mohanlal’s fans lead to Jijo Punnoose’s exit from the project. Mohanlal then tied up with T.K. Rajeev Kumar, who worked as a script supervisor in ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, rewrote the screenplay of ‘Barroz’ even further.
