‘Ponman’ helmed by Jothish Shankar starring Basil Joseph and Sajin Gopi in the lead is an interesting story, based on GR. Indugopan’s story of two men and their ego clash conjoined by a good amount of gold that makes the point of conflict for the story. The trailer of ‘Ponman’ also paints a serious picture of high octane and psychological drama of how two men go to unimaginable lengths to have the gold in their hands.

The trailer opens up with a local Duck hunting competition that sets the premise or foreshadowing the two men’s clash and then cuts off to a woman awaiting her wedding is promised to have 25 sovereigns of Gold, the one that is being fought for by the two men played by Basil Joseph and Sajin Gopi. While the men and their prestige are on line, the woman and the rest of characters are also involved in taking a decision.

A little deeper and serious film for Basil Joseph who has been seen mostly in comedy mixed dramas that received positive responses from the audiences. The ‘Ponman’ trailer builds up to the point of physical fight between the characters, layering the degrees of anger and entitlement of the two egoistic men. The movie is set to release on 30 January 2025.
