The Multifaceted Visionary Actor Kamal Hassan at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry has put out his request for the Tamil Nadu Government to lift off the State Entertainment Tax. The Media and Business Entertainment Conclave: South Connect, the federation had a selective panel that comprised Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Udhayanidhi Stalin as the chief guest and Actor Kamal Hassan to have a healthy conversation about the business aspects in the Entertainment sector.

The FICCI event saw Actor Kamal Hassan voicing out the impending concern of Taxes inflicted on the Tamil Cinema Industry especially pointing out the Double Taxation – one from the Central Government and the other implicated by the State. He took the opportunity to address the concern on difficulties faced by the entertainment sector thus nudging the former actor and the current Deputy CM of Tamil Nadu to make measures to remove the State Entertainment Tax.

The concern was later acknowledged by the Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin who promised to look into the matter and take the necessary actions to loosen the taxation. The issue has headlined recently stirring quite a controversy in the Kerala Film Industry where the Head of the Producer’s Council, Mr. Suresh Kumar reciprocated the feelings of Kamal Hassan and urged for a swift change.

The Double Taxation is said to cut an unfair check that is not sufficient apart from the production budget, actual expense and the Box Office Collection which also poorly reflects the budgetary plans for a longer future. With such initiatives and single taxation especially is a step towards structure in the entertainment sector.
