The trailer of the highly anticipated movie just dropped with a very fantastical and mystical essence to it. A roaring and almost empty train holds an easy going Man, A mystical and moody Man who seems to be fearless and is told as an Immortal and a Rat that somehow means everything to the mysterious man. The immortal man is trying to kill or hurt the man for some unknown reason. While the present day sequence is eccentric and goes along the pace of the train, the past day sequences of invaders or colonisers blink by, creating a whirlpool of events that are going to unravel.
The trailer is also backed by poetic dialogues that teases hints of the mysterious man’s story, adding on to the mystical elements. Already a familiar film for the international audience, ‘‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ was frequently in the headlines for the awards it won in several film festivals. Director Ram has certainly conjured a magical world of his own and equally intriguing characters, something very new for the current trend or for movies of this genre as the characters are at a psychological level that can only be unraveled watching it with the elements on the bigger screen when realising. The movie, although released in the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2024 is hitting the screens in march 2025, date yet to be revealed.
