Telangana Government institutes ‘Gaddar Awards’ for honouring the achievers and talents in Cinema, in the place of the longstanding Nandi Awards. The awards were announced after the members of Telugu Cinema requested the CM, who then announced a new award for cinema, theatre, and television actors, authors, and artists.

As an homage and as a political move for the shift in the government, ‘Gaddar Awards’ are commencing for the upcoming occasion of Ugadi. These awards will be passed as an official Government Order (GO) and it serves as legislation passed at the end of 2024.
