Telangana Government institutes ‘Gaddar Awards’ for honouring the achievers and talents in Cinema, in the place of the longstanding Nandi Awards. The awards were announced after the members of Telugu Cinema requested the CM, who then announced a new award for cinema, theatre, and television actors, authors, and artists.

‘Gaddar Awards’ is named after the revered and renowned Telugu Singer whose outstanding discography has been inspiring and impressive. As an homage and as a political move for the shift in the government, ‘Gaddar Awards’ are commencing for the upcoming occasion of Ugadi. These awards will be passed as an official Government Order (GO) and it serves as legislation passed at the end of 2024.

As an yearly honor, ‘Gaddar Awards’ is slated to be held on 31 January, also coinciding with Gaddar Jayanti. The Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dilraju initiated the meeting along with the members that declared that Gaddar Awards 2025 will commence on Ugadi in April 2025 as a grand event.
