Nag Ashwin’s grand adaptation ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ revolving the characters from the Indian Epic Mahabharata and giving it a spin off with a dystopian setting was a blockbuster hit with many raving upon the making and characterisation. This movie is now all set for release in Japan in January 2025 with an additional bonus of the cast and crew promoting the extended release with a press tour.

The news was announced a couple months ago with fans comparing the release with ‘Baahubali’ duology in Japan, and rightfully so as the SS Rajamouli creation was a humongous hit, achieving the status of highest grossing Indian movie in Japan to date. Certainly Prabhas is no stranger to the Japanese crowd who were enthralled with his portrayal in and as Baahubali. Kalki 2898 AD makers will be heavily banking on the actor’s familiarity and even so in the past reception of the movie in the Indian diaspora and otherwise too.
The release is set on January 3, 2025, also coinciding with the Japanese New Year ‘Shogatsu’, aiming for a celebrated opening. The latest whisper is that the cast and crew will soon fly out to Japan for their press tour in Japan, promoting the movie even further. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ grossed over a whopping 1100 crores in its initial release and is confidently entering the Japanese market.
